Ballenas opens new affordable rental homes in North Nanaimo
The property, located at 6010 Hammond Bay Road, is Ballenas’ first to be built in North Nanaimo. The building features 53 rental homes designed for independent low to moderate income residents capable of living independently without onsite supports. One and two-bedroom options are offered with rental rates based on demonstrated need.
20% of units will be at deep subsidy rental rates for residents with very low incomes (such as those receiving disability assistance, or a basic seniors’ pension), half the units will have rental rates geared to income (RGI), and 30% of units will be at or below market rental rates for moderate income residents.
